“... smooth and intimate... with clean production under a beautifully sultry vocal performance. Patiently paced and introspective”
shiv is a Zimbabwean Irish singer, songwriter, and producer whose soulful, introspective sound blurs the lines between R&B, neo-soul, and lo-fi textures. A former DJ turned artist, she’s known for her warm, honey-toned vocals and diaristic storytelling, music described as “rich in emotion and personal insight… showcasing the depth and evolution of her artistry” (GoldenPlec). A frequent resident of the airwaves, her work has been embraced by stations across Ireland and the UK including RTÉ 2FM and BBC Radio 1.
Born in Zimbabwe and raised in Ireland, shiv’s sound is shaped by her dual heritage, from harmonising with her mother as a child to riffing on 90s R&B in front of the mirror with her sister. After studying Psychology and planning a career in education, a song she wrote for her sister’s wedding unexpectedly changed her path. That video caught the attention of management, and what began as a hobby became a defining vocation.
In 2024, shiv released her debut album the defiance of a sadgirl, a self-written, self-produced, and independently released project created between Uganda and Ireland after departing from Warner Music. The album marks a turning point in her artistic journey, exploring self-love, loss, and rebirth through lush production and unfiltered vulnerability. It was described as “a dazzling collection of warm, soul songs, doused with elements of jazz, hip hop and R&B” (Record of the Day).
